    tried to install those windows update packs and stuff and none of them works, thought i'd save some money when i purchased a curve, then i had to spend $10 to get a memory card to use recorder, now i have to get a new computer? seriously?? sigh

    If you have a BlackBerry Curve then you need "BlackBerry Desktop Manager" not "BlackBerry Link"

    Also, BlackBerry Desktop Manager does work on XP

    Yep, used it from the first day I had gotten my first BlackBerry till about a year ago on a laptop with XP

    Hey, look at the bright side. Most low end smart phones don't even have a micro sd slot.

    Also, like others have said, make sure to use BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

    Other wise, the actual problem you're having would be a good start for us to help you out.

    It just may be time to drop Windows xp anyways, starting April 08/2014, Windows is not going to support xp anymore.

    That includes any critical updates to protect your pc. They are saying that if you use your computer after that date you are more vulnerable to security risks and viruses.

    A smart thing for a company to say. Pure marketing to get users to update.

    The windows updates do not have any effect on security, they might patch holes in the OS that make it vulnerable, but those have always been there and always will. If you have a decent anti-virus you'll be fine.
