Could you even run W8 on a BB10 phone ? It seems to me that they would have to do a lot of programming .. not that I know anything about this.
If Windows does buy BlackBerry I think they would scrap the hardware division and use the patents and NOC

I don't think Microsoft would update existing bb10 devices with their os; all existing BlackBerry phones would probably be given the PlayBook treatment.

No probably not cause blackberrys too secure.

The security is irrelevant if they were to be purchased (with Microsoft now owning/having access to the key) Also, I'm assuming the OP meant WP 8, because full on W8 is not made for ARM processors.

I sure hope that does not happen. I hate the windows phones and I would hate to see it ruin my BlackBerry

Windows Phone 8 is actually highly restricted in terms of supported hardware. Why do you think there aren't major quad-core devices yet and we have yet to see a real 1080p display? WP8 is really limited in these ways, I am not sure it supports the SoC used in BB10 devices. Also it shouldn't support the resolutions of their screens, neither Z10, Q10 nor Q5.

The lumia 1520 will be out very soon. WP8 GDR3 will support quad core processors and higher resolutions (l1520 is 1080p). Also, WP has been using qualcomm socs since the beginning, and the snapdragon based z10s are pretty similar to the lumia 920s in terms of specs

I know about GDR3, but I don't know how much it actually does support besides 1080p resolutions and true quad-cores.
Didn't know they've been using similar socs, I only knew the Lumia range was using dual-cores for their premium line-up. So that would at least still leave the resolution as a barrier. But even besides that I doubt Microsoft would "push" WP8 to exisiting BB10 phones, even if it could work.

the Lumia 1520 is going to be interesting, I must say I'm going to be keeping an eye on it...

If Microsoft were to buy BlackBerry they would for a time continue to support BlackBerry devices; however over time the features of BB10 such as hub and balance would be incorporated into the W8 platform. So they'll be getting all of the perks of BB10 baked into W8 and then they can just give BB10 the playbook treatment, or provide incentives for BB10 user to switch over to W8. The reasons that Microsoft would buy BlackBerry (or at least part of it) would be to strengthen its spot in the enterprise field and fill in gaps in its own OS.

Why do you want a os that doesn't work in the first place aka windows phone.
No task manager, works like crap

Have you every used WP8? Have you used it of late? I don't get your comments. Please provide details or real experiences.
Agreed. I actually quite like windows phones...

They won't do that.. it's all about the patents..
Yes I did, I hated it

MS would have zero interest in BlackBerry hardware. It would be the software that would interest them.
If,....

Actually WP is on far more devices than BB10. 1st WP will definitely not be pushed to legacy BlackBerry devices. BB10 barely has about 5 million phones in users hands. Wouldn't make any sense to go through the trouble of engineering their OS to work on BB10 devices when they sell more than 5 million in a single quater.
So ya the chances of WP being pushed onto our current BlackBerry devices whether legacy or BB10 are next to none.

You have no idea what you are talking about... but thanks for playing.
They might push WP into blackberry phones, but im sure it wont double their market share, because once they do it, all the blackberry users will gone, and their market share remain the same as lumia
I think you're right.
If MS buys BB, the current devices won't get the Playbook treatment, they will be killed quickly. MS would buy BB for two reasons.
1) Patents.
2) Market Share. They would hope that by eliminating BB 10, they could consolidate their #3 position.
They may incorporate some of the server side stuff BB has done but the client platform would be killed. Look what happened when MS bought Danger, the company behind the Sidekick.
