Few days ago one of my friend started new job at a big financial company in NYC. She's been asked If She wants a work phone from them or She prefers to use Her own IPhone 6. When She asked what option She has , They said IPhone or Galaxy. Then she asked what about Blackberry?. They've replied: Oh no They don't exist anymore"
The point is, How Blackberry expect to sell more devices when even enterprise market think they are out of business?. I'm pretty sure the problem is not with OS (as media trying to portrait BB10 as OS lagging behind IOS or Android, which is not true) or hardware. The main problem is with perception of Blackberry image on the market.
Everything even the newest release from Blackberry has a mark already saying "outdated'. I remember once, coming home from work, there was a small group of young people on subway in NY, coming back home from work. One of them pulled out from the bag Q10, someone from the group asked. 'What is it? 90's back??> Im a huge fan of BB10 phones but really? Good Luck.
Horrible, immature Marketing strategy and even worse PR ruined this iconic brand in a matter of few years. We All know Branding is everything these days, because All devices on the market have practically the same hardware specification. And Marketing and Branding is where Blackberry stacked in the 90"s

Sorry for your frustrations... but you need to accept where BlackBerry is and where they will very soon be. It not the fault of the media, retailers, or your friends... BlackBerry did this to themselves.

I actually think it is a little of every thing. BlackBerry for sure did this to themselves. But. The media played it's part for sure. The kicked the dog when it was down. I almost didn't get a BlackBerry because of the media and the perception. I lucked out getting a new one of eBay for super cheap. And thought I would use it in week ends and my iPhone during the week. The first weekend I put sim in it never came out bb10 is far superior to ios in my opinion. And once I installed the leaked 10.2 and snap I have never looked back. But the fact that they are focusing on enterprise market and neglecting the hardware. If by some means they survive this the hard ware will be lagging so far behind it might be hard to cracking ios and android. My 2 cents

The problem BlackBerry now faces is there own fault though. The didn't see the changing market and didn't act fast enough. By the time they did. It was to late they rushed unfinished products to market. The stupidest thing they did was put them selves up for sale. That almost sealed the the deal.

It actually doesn't matter *who the phone manufacturer or OS is people are only going to go with apple or android. As long as android and apple keep pumping out new stuff every year, people won't move. Unless one or both do something to push people away at a large scale, or someone comes out with something really big, I don't see anyone getting close to them‎

If that "really big" doesn't have Snapchat, Instagram, Netflix & Co., I won't work. Unless it's really THAT big... :-)

I agree 100% with you. It should be mandatory that any smartphone or tablet running a modern OS, it should have all the main apps people use. It don't have to be exactly like ios or android version, but at least a decent one. As long as the security patches are updated, regularly, I'm good.

One thing we have to admit as for the "outdated mark" on BlackBerry phones is that their current lineup is in fact outdated compared to the competition.

I don't know if most consumers do actively compare specs but some at least do and when you see the Classic, as one of the newest BlackBerry phones, you automatically feel like it is outdated. The specs of that phone weren't even great when the Q10 came out and that was more than two years ago.

Now, I personally like the Classic and many CrackBerry users will say "but it gets the job done", which is true for a certain user group but many expect more than that. They expect a full app selection, full connectivity to the bunch of services they use and the performance to run everything smoothly out of the box.

I know, BlackBerry is not officially targeting the consumer market but that is in fact a difficult position at this time. If companies are not highly specialized or depending on high security, the borders between corporate and consumer market are continuously getting blurrier. BlackBerry's newest phones are also very specialized, so their potential user group is very limited. The leap, a low-end device could work in emerging markets, however, competition is growing there too with Chinese cheap smartphone manufacturers offering high end specs for cheap money. Then the Passport, maybe rather a design study and only for people who really know what they want. And finally the Classic, which is for BlackBerry enthusiasts and for former Bold users.

Thank you. The media isn't responsible for BB's bad decision making and execution. They're just there to cover it.

Exactly, Blackberry put themselves into this position and the media just ran with it.

    You are currently using BlackBerry???

My corporate Verizon account Rep doesn't use BlackBerry, and the other half dozen Verizon network specialist she has brought in weren't using BlackBerry either. Seemed like most had NOTES, but a couple did have iPhone6+... They all seemed to carried multiple devices, but none of them were BlackBerries.

I've been in the local Verizon store a few times, and I know the front line sales people aren't using BlackBerry. Do you work in IT or some corporate back office?

I almost had a heart attack yesterday. I am moving from Verizon to Tmobile and have a Passport in the mail. I went into the local store to set up my account and set my Z10 on the counter. The rep said aweee a Z10, love mine. Dang the only other BB person I have personally met. He is anxious to see my Passport when I get it.

Huawei shipped 48 million smartphones in the first half of this year. It will take Blackberry 10 years or more to meet that target. Maybe never, because it is Blackberry.

Yeah 48 million is sold and that is a lot of phones, but I would like to know how many of them is business owners/ corporations? Blackberry isn't concern about the average Joe down the street. If he decides to buy a blackberry that's great, if not, they can fall back on their enterprise market.

Well based on their current sales.... the enterprise market isn't much to be concerned about. But the simple turth is BlackBerry doesn't have a product that ENTERPRISE wants. Only highly regulated industries like Health Care, Defense or of course goverment are still BlackBerry buyers. But at 900K a quarter, that isn't much of a market.
