I am hoping so. Once I get it, I will let you know (should be getting it within the first couple days of release). What is the worse thing I do, return it and go back to my Curve???
I just loaded Google Maps on my 8230 (uscc), and it located me, while indoors, to within a couple blocks, without any hacking, additional programs, or changing any settings at all.
I have a telus 8230 and the GPS has not worked at all ....tried hacking it but the qspt program and the flip don't work together yet....telus says it will take a few months ...yeah whatever

How did you get the Pearl Flip on USCC? They aren't out yet are they?
Just picked one up today for my mother in law and tried to use the garbage BB maps. No GPS fix but will "borrow" from her to test it after i put google maps on it. I know it works on my Storm but not sure about the Pearl Flip (yet). It is a nice little phone and with expandable RAM up to 16 GB that is sweet too!
Getting off on tangent.... will let you know in a few days!

I've been told the Flip uses a different GPS chip, so much like the rewrite they did for the Storm; it is up to google to release a version that works with the 8230s GPS chipset. AmazeGPS has the same problem.
BTW, both Google Maps and AmazeGPS were tested on my device. The only non-VZW GPS app i've been able to get working is BB Maps.
Has Google offered anything yet or is still in "design" mode for the 8230?
If they've even got an Alpha version running, there's no hint of it on their site. The only devices specifically mentioned are the 95xx Storm and 9630 Tour.
