So what are you guys using Wikitude for? And how do you do that?

I've messed around with it a bit, but haven't really found a solid use for it. It seems like a novelty really.

I haven't even loaded it on my 9930, and I honestly don't plan on loading it anytime soon. I really don't know what I would use it for. I'm with you, it seems more like a novelty more than anything.

Wikitude, like most apps, are of limited use.

However, there have been times where I needed to find the nearest coffee shop or whatever and that app saved my **** 2 or 3 times.

I wouldn't say that it's useless. I feel that Wikitude is just scratching the surface of what augmented reality can be and where mobile technology is headed.

Yea, I checked that out the other day. Was a good thread on getting up to speed using the app. I'm just left wondering what others are actually using it for.

Not sure I ever needed coffee that badly!

I needed to meet at a coffee shop, but it wasn't for the coffee

    Now that I can understand.

I play around with it just seeing what is around me, but most of the time it isn't anything I didn't already know about. Being that I work in our state's Capitol, there are TONS of other Blackberrys around me, in case I wanted to bbm with a random state employee.

Yes, and iOS and Android devices. On their website it says they are making an OS6 compatible app.

    Wikitude

    BlackBerry

Wikitude comes pre-installed on all OS7 devices (AR capable devices, which have a digital compass) and will also be available for non-AR capable OS 6 and OS 5 devices with a map view only very shortly. Wikitude can also be downloaded via App World for the following devices:

    Bold 9900
    Bold 9930
    Torch 9860
    Torch 9850
    Torch 9810

Poynt offers similar services, and seems to be even more useful.

Interestingly, I remembered my Poynt app AFTER I used Wikitude, and I actually like being able to scan the scenery and see what is where in which direction I'm looking. Poynt may have a better database of points of interest, but it just seems more natural to me to hold up the phone and scan my surroundings. I can't wait til Wikitude has more content and organizes it better.
