This may sound stupid, but how do I use the WiFi feature of the BB Bold? Why would I want to use this feature? Also, when I use WiFi, does this mean the data is no longer traveling over the 3G/EDGE network? Please explain as I'm very confused. Also, can someone explain how I use tethering as I now have that on my new phone.

    Thank you!

Wifi is built into BlackBerry to support Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA). Some carriers do support UMA, others view it as a threat to their revenue stream.

In the case of AT&T, UMA is not enabled and Wifi is only used for the Hotspot Browser. None of your voice or data services use Wifi, just 3G.

There is no way to use Wifi for tethering, but it is possible to use 3G for that purpose.

Ok, so let me see if I get this straight. If I have the WiFi feature enabled, that means I can use that for Internet capabilities and nothing else, correct?

As for tethering, how do I use it at all? I'm very confused.

    Thanks again.

    Check this How-To thread.

There are also commercial products that allow you to tether with a simple install.
