Is there any way I can disable my ridiculous 3G roaming fee (in Canada...what a medieval mobile market) and just use Wifi? My Nokia e71 seems to allow this, which is very handy, but I'd rather use the Bold because of keyboard and other settings. But BB doesnt seem to allow Wifi unless I have my pricey 3G going. Is this true?

set the mobile data preference to wifi instead of mobile data. of shut off the mobile network totally while browsing. or set the browser to default to the hotspot/wifi one instead of the regular internet browser.

Yeah, but where do I do that?

If I disable the mobile network, and leave wifi on, then none of the apps (browser, gmail) work. THey keep telling me "no data connection".

manage connections > mobile network options > connection pref > wifi preferred. as long as the wifi symbol is on the top of your screen while browsing, you should be on wifi and not the mobile network. you can always do a mobile speed test to check.
