I have a 8350I on which I no longer have data service (I shut it off with Nextel) was wondering if Wifi will still get me on internet ? and if 8350I has a Mac address that i would have to enter into my router and how I find that address on the 8350I. Thanks in advance for any response,

Yes you're phone will be able to use the wifi. Fist go into options menu, click on advance options and then click on browser. Switch default browser to hotspot browser. Also if you need you're mac address for you're phone go into options menu and scroll down to status.

    Cannot find any answers.....anywhere.....

    -8350i Boost Mobile
    -Everything functions great except WiFi

    1) Do you have to switch between "browser" & "hotspot browser" every time you want to use WiFi ?? You have got be kidding me right?

    2) If 8350i is connected to both iDEN & WiFi does it automatically default to WiFi ??

    3) I have a Sprint Overdrive MiFi. No issues with connecting my computer to it. However the 8350i gets dropped after anywhere from 1 - 3 minutes. The 8350i doesn't seem to have any issues connecting to other WiFi networks. I tested that by disconnecting iDEN connection to make sure.

    any ideas ?

It loses connection after playing maximum 2 songs streaming from Pandroa. It does this with 100% consistency even though the 8350i shows it's connected. The MiFi makes an audible sound once the connection is actually lost within a few minutes or a few songs streaming from Pandroa.

My notebook has never had connection issues with this MiFi.

I've read through the entire WiFi sticky btw. Just looking at the sheer volume of WiFi trouble threads regarding a variety of models, are Blackberries the worst for WiFi usage ??

WiFi is a 7 year old smartphone feature...

    hello ?

OK..again just based on the countless hours wasted looking for an answer and zero responses from questions plus an entire subsection dedicated to WiFi issues...LOL

....WiFi issues are just part of the Blackberry "culture" ?

I deleted the Overdrive MiFi network profile and manually re-entered it on the 8350i rather than scan and add it. So far it has been connected streaming Pandora internet radio for about 30 min.

    *crosses fingers*

Edit: Spoke too soon...it just dropped connection..

    1) Right now the 8350i says it is connected to my Overdrive MiFi.

    2) Right now the Overdrive MiFi says the 8350i is not connected.

    3) I closed out Pandora waited and relaunched. It gave me an error of "could not connect to Pandora tunnel down"

    4) I closed out Pandora again waited and relaunched. It reconnected to the Overdrive MiFi as the MiFi alerted an audible tone when the 8350i successfully connected to it.

It just disconnected again after 7 min.

Same thing over and over again, different error showing now: "Could not connect to Pandora: Error trying to resolve"

Will not stay connected for more than 3 min. after 8 different attempts.

    - I deleted the Overdrive MiFi network profile and manually re-entered it on the 8350i rather than scan and add it.

Back to square one. Holding out hope this can be resolved or Blackberry devices are really as bad as all those threads say they are regarding WiFi.

I just starting thinking maybe since the Google Mobile app automatically polls for email it could have some kind of conflict? Thus I deleted the entire app and rebooted the 8350i and the Overdrive MiFi.

I reconnected and it streamed Pandora for just over an hour before being disconnected from the MiFi. This time I only closed out Pandora on the 8350i and reopened it, it reconnected and lasted for 30 min. That didn't work this time, rebooted the MiFi.

Anyone have any ideas ?? any WiFi or Blackberry experts here ??

Ok, I had someone with the latest iPhone test out the Overdrive. We were at a pub that offered FREE WiFi. The iPhone worked flawlessly with the MiFi router.

    - I tried turning off iDEN as well as leaving it on. Either way the 8350i worked flawlessly with the free WiFi, never dropping connection or Pandora.

    - The iPhone never lost connection with my MiFi router.

    Day 19 with WiFi issues..

The more time I spend reading up on Blackberry in general the more issues I find, I guess I had an inaccurate preconceived notion. I don't think Blackberry really works for these types of uses but rather just checking email.

May just sell it, got it cheap and wanted to stream Pandora through car stereo most of the day via bluetooth and generally just use WiFi !!
