When I turn off data services for mobile network, wifi stops working, when i re enable it, wifi works just fine, what does the mobile network has to do with wifi?!

    It's working as it should.
That does not control if you're using the carrier's data but if the device will access any data at all.

Maybe RIM didn't have a better place to put that...

What if your service, like with Verizon, ends and your data plan is discontinued. Could you still use the Curve for wifi?

Its weird also with WiFi. Almost aggravating too

I applied unlimited data just to not worry about it. Also a side note that if you want WiFi Security only WAP can be used. Presently there seems to be a bug with OS 5 regarding WEP protection.

Yes, of course. WiFi is not related to carrier's services, it's a hardware feature.
