Why can't BlackBerry undo their tragic decision to price their phones as premium devices ?

I know what you mean...but you can buy them for 199 at ATT, right? and pretty soon they will be 59. I paid 600 for mine in April but I think they are falling in price. I agree. make them more affordable.

The Z10 should never have been launched in the first place. BlackBerry should have scaled down production and focused on QWERTY devices. As it stands they lost BILLIONS on developing QNX for full touch-screen devices. And the Q10 really, I haven't heard anything yet that convinces me to spend an enormous amount of money upgrading to from the 9900. I'm sure Thorsten priced the Q10 so that nobody would actually want to buy it.

But why aren't the off contract prices coming down ? If you get a contract you still are paying full price. It is included in your monthly fee.

Because in some places they are still considered to be luxurious and one of the most premium phones you can get

They dont want to lose that name if they dont consider it premium elsewhere.

when the nexus 4 was on sale for $200 unlocked it was still for sale at bell off contract for i think around $400 or so still... so i doubt you would ever be able buy any phone from the carrier off contract for a good price
