The small user base would be my first guess. Incompatibility with the Android run time currently used by BB10 would be my second.
Because supporting BlackBerry isn't worth their time and money. Nothing more, nothing less.

Can we stop saying ALL blackberry phones, bad enough it's all falling to bits around us with the android handsets being doomed by association. The priv and dtek50 and any that may or may not follow will all still work in 2017.

BB10 whilst waiting.....
WhatsApp is NOT leaving blackberry.
Blackberry left its own Os the BB10 because it did not make a profit for the company.
WhatsApp withdrawing support for bb10 is a function of blackberry leaving the Os.
U will do good changing over to a supported handset. Even blackberry has 2 handsets that will support WhatsApp - priv & dtek50:)

Because Blackberry doesn't care about BB10 and ended it in any meaningful sense and consumers have never cared about BB10. So Whatsapp doesn't want to spend the money supporting a very small and shrinking userbase.
Blackberry just announced it was it was leaving Blackberry...why would whatsapp stay?
