I'm reading around here all the negativity regarding BlackBerry going android. The people that are talking about jumping off are saying I'm going ios or I'm going android.

Well why not go open source and get an ubuntu phone. I've just ordered the bare bones mid range bq aquaris 4.5 and I'm excited to use it.

most people using a BlackBerry these days won't exactly be doing it for the huge range of apps so why not join an os that will probably get a decent community behind it that's not going to be under pressure to make it big, with their server / desktop background established already.

Some exciting things happening with the os and will soon be a mobile phone/desktop converge.

And no dodgy passing of info to the nsa through back doors etc.

    Just an option.

    Cheers

I would love to own a Jolla. I was a previous N900 and N9 owner.

But Jolla doesn't support the band's that my carrier uses, so I haven't really gotten the chance, it would also involve shipping to Europe somewhere, and then shipping it to Canada. Big expense.

    One day I'll get it.

To add to what you're saying, why doesn't BlackBerry make BB10 open source? It'll reduce development costs and might even bring some people within the fold.

As one of the commented posts implied...

    Don't get your hopes up.

Ubuntu mobile OS is the answer to a question that should never be asked.
