This commercial for lifelock pretty much summarizes the issue I have with Blackberry abandoning Blackberry 10 for their version of Android and 'DTEK'.
In my opinion they should have pursued a merger with Blackphone.
The only issue would be two dead phone builders. The black phone is just a two system phone.
? BlackPhone is pretty much just a hardened version of Android.... with no Google approval or Play Store.
And last I heard was just about dead..... CEO left, one of the original cryptophers left, they owed millions and revenues showed they were only selling phones in the 10's of thousands a year, not the 100's that were promised.
Too many here overlook just how secure an EMM can make a standard Android or iPhone, and how few need anything more than that. There is a market for a higher level of phone.... just not one willing to pay enough to make it profitable. So the next option is to tweak Android a little and offer it as a option. Next step if that doesn't work is just get out of the way.
Blackberry abandoning Blackberry 10.... is like Molly Brown abandoning the Titanic. Wasn't really an option.
