Okay, is it me, the network, or the Bold......Let me re-ask that... is it the network or the Bold... I've had this Bold for five weeks and I've NEVER experienced so many dropped calls, failed calls, etc... it seems this device (my second one by the way) continues to bounce from EDGE to 3G and I bet I drop 3 or 4 of every ten calls !! I can't work like this so I'm thinking of changing (to Verizon)... the STORM seems scary... so many bad posts... and I do use this for business.... the CURVE seems right, but appears to be a step back... HELP .. anybody got any suggestions... would upgrading the OS (which is still at .167) help ??? Can the AT&T network be that bad ?
An ATT branded Bold can't toggle manually between 3G and EDGE. A way that ATT tries to make the iPhone look superior.
OP, you seriously need to update your firmware. I can't tell you how many people running .167 have so many complaints about it. Including lots of dropped calls.
Go through the thread and do research and look at the feedback on it. I can't find the thread on .247 because the search function on this is kind of flawed.
But the same instructions apply for .247 upgrade.
What happens is your leaving a 3G network area and going to an EDGE network and getting dropped and then reconnected. When you go from EDGE to 3G EDGE waits until you've established a 3G connection and then hands you off. I'm so happy I don't have 3G on my 8900 . It may be slow but at least its reliable.
