Well when I originally got my Torch, I also got a Samsung Vibrent. I was going to take the Vibrent, but gave someone else the option to pick first... Dammit.
Anyways I'm happy for now, but who knows how well RIM will be at the end of 2012.

Even if other companies have upgraded their operating systems and have more apps, Blackberry is still king in the essentials:
1. Security - While security on BIS is not quite as heavy as BES, it still beats whatever Apple and Android has to offer. BIS automatically encrypts your email, instant messages and other data it sends and receives if your servers support SSL. (You may want to also read about viruses and BIS monitoring - this made me an automatic fan of Blackberries).
2. Data Efficiency - A lot of people still do not realize how efficient Blackberry is with the usage of their data. Blackberry compresses data, so you can do a lot more without worrying about data limiting and throttles (Do a research on the exact numbers, you will be amazed!).
3. Reliability - Day-in, day-out, I use my Blackberry to stream constant news and data to help me with my business and it just works effortlessly with no complaints or hindrances. Compare that with my buddies, who have iphones and androids and experience various os crashes, regular data outages, exposure to viruses/malware, etc.
4. Practicality - Blackberry's well-known qwerty keyboard is a legendary, world-class feature. Many phones have tried to add their own qwerty keyboard, but none has matched the preciseness and quickness of a Blackberry's keyboard. Also, in regards to batteries, Blackberry is also a winner here. My friends need to constantly charge their phones every 5-6 hours, but I can use mine almost the whole day. Also, in regards to the iphone, who makes a phone with a non-replaceable battery?
5. Emails - Blackberry is the master of emails - period. No one else handles your emails as efficiently and securely as Blackberry. I rarely use my email on my desktop, as Blackberry's interface is quite user-friendly (and quite addicting).
In my case and, obviously, for my needs, I do not see the purpose of using any other smartphone.

I had been resisting for a while as I think Berrys are (forgive me) ugly phones and there are some that are more aesthetically pleasing. But I needed a new phone, and decided to bite the bullet and listen to my friends and family who swore they would never have anything else. I bought my Curve, fell in love and the rest is history. I use it for everything from emails to appointment reminders...And I'm addicted to Twitter! I'd never use another mobile now.

Real keyboards, great for messaging/emails/texts, strong battery life, reliable calling, and I like the interface more than the rest.

I bought a Playbook and think QNX has a great future. Bought a Pearl so I would have full function with the Playbook until the new phones are released. These are my first RIM products but I see a lot more in the future. I love this combination.

I got one because my iPhone was near useless for actually making phone calls.

Because it's a good cellular device that is easy to use as a cell-phone.
