My friend and I just went to a store to check for Q10.
Just wanted to switch from Z10 to Q10.
After seeing Q10 with very poor quality of screen: not very clear, color turns to yellow, and not fine, as seen on Z10.
I am no longer want to buy Q10 any more.
After that, my friend bought an iPhone 5 instead of Q10.

I do not know why RIM select that type of screen for Q10?

    Hi there,
I have both the Z10 and the Q10... the screen is very good on both devices i'd say...Sometimes the demo devices aren't on par with the actual device. I love the screen on the Q...it's sharp, good colours, good size (bigger than i'd thought - compare to the 9900 it's huge!!)

All in all I'm happy with the display... Sorry to hear you didn't have the same experience. maybe you can ask a rep or friend who may have a Q10 to test it out!

Did you ask them? Enjoy what ever device suits you best.

Thanks both of you for your replies!
It was quite strange when I saw the screen on Q10.
Or because it was a demo device?

The screens are different on the two. Z10 is LCD, Q10 is AMOLED.

My guess is because in the past Blackberry uses a poorer screen initially....
...So they can sell the next Q 10 with a better screen and the loyalists will buy it.
...There is no R&D cost associated with these types of upgrades.

    Blackberry has done this historically.

The Q10 is a functional device. Whoever chooses a QWERTY phone today, doesn't prioritize multimedia, but battery life on a long day out in the field.

It may be a tough transition to go from the Z10 to Q10. You may want to play with it first before making the switch. If you use it as an entertainment device, then you may want to stay put. If you receive work emails, send a lot of messages and bbm's, then it may be worth the switch.

It's darker because AMOLED uses less power when it's darker. LCD uses less power when the UI is whiter.

I wanted to switch because I receive and send many emails and text messages a day.
I used to 9900 before and actually I expected to buy Q10.
When the Q10 released, it was over price so it left me no choice.
At present, the price of Q10 and Z10 is acceptable so I wanted to switch.
But I can not fall in love with the screen on Q10 so I stick with Z10.
It must be from AMOLED. But it can not be denied is that the battery on Q10 is much better than Z10.

My Q10 screen does not turn to yellow as you said in your description. Probably someone messed around with the demo device.

It is important to know that the Q10 uses a different technology, AMOLED in this case, than the Z10 or the iPhone 5. AMOLED is also not actually inferiour, in fact it is more expensive to produce, it is different. This technology has some pros and cons and everybody needs to figure out whether they like it or not. For example I'd pick up OLED displays any day over a traditional LCD screen if a device would over both options.

The white on the Q10 is indeed somewhat odd, even for an AMOLED display. Compared to my two Symbian^3 devices, the white is much more angle dependend and tends to get a slight blueish tint. Also the screen brightness and outdoor readability is worse compared to those Nokia phones, even though the technology used in those phones is now nearly 3 years old!

There have also been some reports about fauly Q10 displays, having a yellow tint. I think a similar thing also happened with the Z10 in some rare cases. Maybe that demo unit was a faulty one.

My Q10 has fantastic screen as well. I had seen demo unit which was strangely of poor quality as well! BlackBerry should liaise better with these outlets otherwise that could damage the brand image unnecessarily.
