Why is BlackBerry pushing FCC modifications for the Z30 STA100-1 and the STA100-4?

...as late as 5/2014, for two devices that weren't released for sale? Is this just a bulk update, or is there something more to it?

Here's what I'm talking about:

-Go to https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repor...ericSearch.cfm
-In Grantee code, enter L6A
-In Final Action Date range, enter 05/12/2014 to 05/12/2014.
-Hit enter

From the results that show up, L6ARGB140LW is the STA100-4 (RGB141LW) and L6ARFV120LW is the STA100-1 (RFV121LW.)

I know that people have managed to obtain the STA100-1 (and maybe the STA100-4 as well) from sources in Canada, but it just seems odd to me to be doing this for products that 99.9% of consumers don't have.

Weird. All seems to revolve around the WiFi Direct spec.

Might be coming to Virgin Mobile and the other pre paid services.

It can be months from when they started to when it's publicly posted.

I hadn't thought of that. I just checked and despite the multiple listings that come up, basically each device has one set of respective exhibits--a Confidentiality Letter, another letter, and a SAR test report, for which the dates listed are 4/7/2014, 5/2/14, and 3/24-26/2014, respectively. So they seem to be fairly recent. I didn't go through the reports word for word, but my guess is, aside from the WiFi Direct changes they must have made, rest of the reports are verbatim to what they had put out earlier.
