Who thinks appworld should look like this
ok, so i was having a little play around earlier and knocked up a concept of what i think appworld should look like on phones, its more a tweak in terms of UI and visuals, but lemme know what you think, because id love to see appworld look like this.
Featured page

so this is just a less cluttered version of the featured page, main points are dropping the featured items text from top left (something that looks poor in design) and throwing it where its more relevant, also a filter for all/apps/themes on the featured part too. the rest is just re-organised to make more sense and is also alot more centered than the current layout.
Categorie page

so again drop the title (so pointless) and use the icons from the playbook categories, also added a scrollbar on the side so people can see theres more stuff below
Application page
http://bbthemes.co.uk/crackberry/application_page.jpg
so this is ultimately THE most important page, its where your going to purchase from and where you`ll read the description, this has to be spot on.
so ditched the title from the top and inserted it below the buttons and showed it as the description, it just tells people theres something to read. also changed up the rounded rectangles, spaced them evenly top and side, and the curved corners match the curves on the app icon. again all the info in the top rectangle is centered to look less cluttered, and the price moved into the purchase button for a more integrated feel.
in the main rectangle below i changed the order of the buttons because recommend isnt the first thing you want to do, its look at the pics, then if you like what you see you`ll read the reviews, then you would recommend.
the description text is padded from both side for a neater look and once again a scroll bar for more content.
Reviews page

So this page keeps the same UI layout as the app page (current version doesnt) and just smartens up the look with the title moved to the center and the information cleaned up and again padded from both sides, also the ... when theres more to a review than you can read is a little UI part thats really missing from appworld at the moment, and of course a scroll bar to read more reviews.
Reviews in depth

so once again keeps the UI constants as the review and app page, the layout is better positioned and additionally shows the version of the app that has been reviewed, this is and issue for all app stores that you need to be able to see if its the current software as the dev may have fixed or broke something in a later build, its just helps out that little bit more.
additionally the options below the review give more choice than just going back through the reviews page to see the app, it just gets you where you want to go quicker.
Top 25 and Myworld
ok so i didnt knock up an image for these, but id drop the titles from them (again on the left with no padding looks poor) and for the top 25 id split the themes into paid and free. all that shows there currently is the free ones, so a) its not revenue maximising and b) its not helping premium theme designers, ask almost any premium theme designer and they`ll say this is what it should be, its like that for apps, should be for themes too.
for the myworld page instead of the expandable lists id change that to the same `pages` layout of the top 25 section, not much else to say on those two, other than currently the text isnt vertically centered in the lists, it should be, it looks more professional.
for the overall feel iv used the wallpaper from appworld for PlayBook, and the same for the category icons, plus changed up the buttons to the OS6 buttons. to me appworld at the moment screams out OS5 (think the background of the app menu) with its dark black/blue colours and OS5 style buttons, this redesign reflects OS6 a little more (myworld, top 25 and buttons) and the PlayBook`s looks plus a more user friendly layout, while not straying too far from whats currently up so people arent majorly confused or dis-orientated.
so what do you think? an improvement? not gone far enough? or doesnt really matter? lemme know your thoughts below :)
