I've downloaded the BB Weather app before for my 8830 and again just now for my Curve and it's crashed my BB every time I've tried to open it. I took it off of my 8830 (rebooting Ziggy twice b/c of that app was enough for me) but most of the folks here rave about how great BB Weather is, so I'd like to give it a shot so I can at least know what it looks like. Any idea what could be causing the crashes? I don't recall the prompt that comes up when it crashes verbatim; I think it's something about the location not being set or something, but since it's crashed, I don't have any opportunity to set a location. Kind of frustrating, but maybe it's just me...

Post #7 shows how to avoid locking up the device when configuring BBWeather on a trackball device.

Never mind. I see that others have had this problem, too, so I'll give the previous recommendations a shot and see what happens.

The key is not hitting the menu key until after you hit the trackball twice.

This app was created before trackball Blackberrys were developed.

I have repeatedly tried to install and use BBWeather on my 8310...even using the methods outlined in the FAQ link above...and have yet to get it to work properly. I am having to depend on AccuWeather now...which sucks, but I don't have any easier or more effective app to work with.

Maybe it's just me, but each time I quit out of sheer frustration.

I am having TONS of trouble getting my bbweather to work too! For some reason, if I check the Disable MDS proxy, it get the "Error: Invalid Tunnel Name" and if I leave it unchecked, I get the "Error:Invalid URL Parameter" What can I do to fix this?!

That happened to me just yesterday after I restored a previous backup to get rid of some "junk". I had to go back and re enter my apn settings to wap.voicestream.com then it lit up like a dream.

okey dokey- this is how you do it on a trackball device.

Install BBWeather 0.74- find link elsewhere(i dont post links anymore)

On first run it will give an error that there are no weather profiles selected- IGNORE THIS -click the trackball once to get rid of the pop-up error message and then immediately click the trackball once more.

Now you can click the menu key and say "add" or "add new"- for location ID use your zip code, under description name it whatever-city-you-live-in. Its best to leave forcast set to the default 5 days and units to standard(unless you need metric-degrees celcius).

Barring any network errors from your wireless providers this should make it work fine.(i have a 8110 and a 8100 with a 8310 for a toy and it worked fine the first time for all)

I'm running the newer version with the GPS Location option and it's been solid as a rock on my 9700. The OTA is here, look for BBWeatherEX.jad
