Well if they are trying to appeal to a young audience I would think that One Direction would make more sense than a semi-washed up artist - who cares if they disappear in a couple of years, they would have done their job. I would guess that they would want more cash than RIM would be willing to spend.

She's been tweeting about the Z10 and BlackBerry almost daily since the launch. There was something in there about taping something for BB (commercial?), etc so she's been quite active laying the groundwork for the role she's taken on. BlackBerry will also figure prominently on her up coming tour in ads, banner placement and there's also talk about BB booths, but I think her role overall is more in the background than that.
