I like sliders in theory, but I haven't used one that felt good and worked well in reality.

Last one I had was a Pre which was awkward because of weight balance and the sharp lip. What are everyone's favorite sliders for comparison?

I don't think BlackBerry will be working on putting out a slider device at this point. The original Torch was dope though. I loved that thing. It was a smooth combo.

I hope never sliders are just more moving parts that break and come under harsher review for the easy, snappiness, smoothness and stability of the slider mechanism. If it's not perfect then people will say it's trash and what are the chances of it being perfect?!

There was a patent that BlackBerry filed for a slider a few weeks ago.

It was kinda ugly, but I thought that for the 9800 too so hopefully it will look better soon.

My lead engineer uses a Droid with a landscape slide out keyboard. I use the 9810 as my daily. As keyboard wizards we know how to maximize devices to get the most out of them.

Me, I am not sure about a "Q30". I had a dificult time using Peek on the Q10 so as of right now, I would prefer a slider Torch-like device.

I had (and still have) a 9810. Only problem is the thickness the slider adds and the fact that the slider inevitably becomes loose over time and starts clanking together with the screen when typing in full touch mode

A big a$$ Q30 for me. Slider = mechanics, and the number of times I'd flick that thing out per day, it'd last a week.

Besides, I just want a massive Q phone.

There are many "want a slider " threads. A lot of naysayers here but they are not the potential buyers. If the best that BlackBerry can do with a physical keyboard is a 3.1 inch screen then a slider is needed. I suspect that the conservative approach that resulted in the Q10 came from the old guard that likes small phones. BlackBerry needs to get bigger on QWERTY models or "go home".

Held a Z30 today. Very nice build but too big for my tastes. I wish they would come out with a Z30 mini to replace the Z10 . The Z10 looks pretty cheap IMHO.

I don't know. If they don't over produce it (like the Z10) and can make a profit on it, it may be a decent idea.

Question is whether they can make a good enough margin with smaller production levels. By BlackBerry 's own admission, they are now targeting the smaller niche 'prosumer' market. 'Niche' means selling far fewer phones than they have in the past.

Obviously none of the BB10 phones out there is doing fine in any sort of way. While there are no specific numbers, it appears the two Qs aren't really selling in larger numbers either, so this is not just a Z10 problem.
Recent reports also don't look too thrilling regarding customer acceptence of the new Z30. So I don't know why BlackBerry, especially with their heavily struggling hardware business, should even bother with a BB10 slider.

Not mine, and it's in use now for over 3 years. (first by me, now my little brother) I guess it makes a huge difference whether you use a case or not. I know I always did.
