It makes no sense for blackberry to offer android for old devices design for BB10, which they still support and sell. If you want an android phone from blackberry go purchase the Priv and trade in you current bb10 device.

Where are people gonna get support from? Even if they did, those releases would probably be quite buggy and unstable, marring the already damaged reputation....

A lone leak for device enthusiasts might be the best we can hope for, and probably only Passport. (those that are keen on Android)

Hopefully never. I think many of us on BB10 are here because that is our OS of choice. If I were interested in Android I would be on the Priv bandwagon or one of the numerous other Android OEMS.

I could see the Passport and classic getting Android. I doubt any other phone would get the update. But BB would have to find a way for it to be profitable. Maybe they will just create a new Classic and Passport with updated specs that will be Android based. The existing devices may not perform well with Android.

The only incentive is if they want to stay in business. IMO, without their present customer base, they won't survive in the Android market place. I may be wrong, but if they don't offer something substantial to present BB 10 owners, I'm betting they'll be gone the way of the Dodo bird pretty quick. This from a guy that's owned BB since the 7130. They have to step up for us now....

Their current customer base is tiny - that is why what they want is not a consideration - this is about capturing enough 'other' customers to make hardware profitable. As Howarmat says the wants and needs of that small hardcore group is profitable.

Why would they assume that people who made the decision to buy a phone running BB10 would want to upgrade it to Android?

I bought a gas burning truck, I don't expect the manufacturer to switch it to electric for free anytime in the future.
