Hi everyone I heard WhatsApp is rolling out video calls. When they do I'm sure it is also going to be for group chats too.

I'm also sure that they don't require 3G to make video calls. In that way then #BBM is dead.

Why #BBM must have at least 3G just to make a voice call? Stupid isn't it?

Well they can do it over WiFi. Video is bandwidth intensive. What do you think is the minimum bandwidth required for a video call in Kbps?

Seen the pictures that suggest it's coming whatsapp. If true, all I can do is smh at BlackBerry and BBM. Video chat is a awesome feature that is utterly unless on my BlackBerry. None of my closest friends use it.

Hoping that since they are closing the BBM Meetings service that they plan to just go ahead and make the feature available cross platform.

The boat sailed on BBM a while ago. Used to be an avid user, but no use now when no on else uses it. Keep giving us stickers BlackBerry, that's precisely what everyone wants.

Did you know that you can do video calls over Edge on Line?

No I didn't know, but that is not answering my question.
    What is the frame rate(temporal)?
    What is the picture size(spatial)?
    And what is the SNR(quality)?

I would imagine that they don't allow video for such low bandwidth connections because people would complain about the perceived quality.
    I can totally see why.

Sorry I don't know the details of the video calls but I've used it & it is pretty acceptable.

    Spot on!

And for the record, XBBM notifications have gone wonky again after latest updates. Never shows D for delivered. Only a check mark until theyve read it, when it then immediately shows R.

    Great job Chairman Chen... NOT!
