I know that there have been previous threads about people's BB history, but I was interested in understanding how long people keep devices as their daily driver.

As an unabashed fanboy, I obsessively collect devices based on what I think looks cool (and not in a gotta catch 'em all Pokemon fashion). Whenever I buy a newly released device, I aim to get at least six months use out of it as my daily driver. However those plans tend to change based on whatever shiny new BB toy comes out.

Here's what my BlackBerry Daily Driver Roadmap looks like going back to my very first BlackBerry:

    Previous devices:

    Dec 2007 - Dec 2008: Pearl 8100
    Dec 2008 - Dec 2009: Curve 8900
    Dec 2009 - Dec 2010: Bold 9700
    Dec 2010 - Jan 2012: Bold 9780
    Jan 2012 - Feb 2013: Bold 9900
    Feb 2013 - Sep 2013: Black Z10
    Sep 2013 - Jan 2014: White Q10
    Jan 2014 - Apr 2014: Red Q5
    Apr 2014 - Dec 2014: White Z30
    Dec 2014 - Jul 2015: White Passport
    Jul 2015 - Sep 2015: Blue Classic
    Sep 2015 - Jan 2016: Passport SE
    Jan 2016 - Jul 2016: PRIV
    Jul 2016 - Oct 2016: DTEK50
    Oct 2016 - May 2017: DTEK60
    May 2017 - Oct 2017: KEYone Silver
Oct 2017 - April 2018: KEYone Black Edition Dual SIM
April 2018 - Current: KEYone Bronze Edition Dual SIM

    Upcoming purchases:

June 2018 - October 2018: Motion (it's been over a year since I used the BB vkb so looking to scratch that itch until the KEY2 comes out)
    October 2018 - ???: KEY2 6GB
??? - ???: the next exciting thing TCL comes up with!

What's your past, present and future BB Daily Driver Roadmap look like? Do you expect a minimum number of months/years use as a daily driver before moving to the next thing? Or are you tempted by the shiny new toy like I am?

If I go strictly by daily driver, my list is as follows, starting in 2007:

    7100i, 8350i, 9300, 9900, Z10, Z30, Passport SE, Priv, DTEK60, KEYᵒⁿᵉ SE, and soon to be KEY².

That will be 5 in the last 3 years.

Path was 9800, then 9810, then Z10 then on to the original unlocked PassPort, and finally the move to Android with the Priv.

But since last December I made the difficult choice to move on from BlackBerry (I know it wasn't financially feasible, but the Priv should have gotten O. If it had I would still be with BlackBerry) and got myself a OnePlus 5T. Couldn't be happier.

original BlackBerry was Curve 9000, next Bold 9700, Bold 9900, Z10, back to 9900 until 10.2.1. Z10, Z30, White Passport, back to Z30 then Cobalt Classic (my favorite BlackBerry) bought a DTEK50 used it for a few mo the then went back to Classic. Last February went to S7 Edge with BlackBerry HUB and VKB. In October of '17 bought a standard S7 (excellent all touch with BlackBerry HUB and VKB) This February traded in my S7 for a S9 half price. With BlackBerry HUB and VKB a great all touch hybrid. (I have ALL of my former BlackBerry and still fire up the Classic and Passport on WiFi) Our son happily uses my DTEK50 on the May patch. I am interested in the Key2 if I can get my hands on one in person. Never did see a KeyOne here in Sacramento CA. All other BlackBerry, besides, DTEK devices were in a store to physically check out. I forgot to mention I had a Torch from Costco for a month before my wife and I turned it back in. Neither of us liked the slider. Primarily the reason I stayed away from PRIV.

July 2007 - started with the Pearl 8100.

    June 2010 - upgraded to Torch 9800.

    August 2013 - switched to the Z10.

    August 2017 - Samsung S8 to now.

I plan my next upgrade to be in the Summer of 2019. I hope there will be a BlackBerry Motion follow-up by then, and that AT&T will carry it.

BB Bold 9000 for 4.5 years
    Q10 traded for Z30
    Z10 (bought, still have)
    Z30 (had 2, still have 1)
Classic - thumbs getting arthritic so traded it for:
Dtek50 to learn android. Still have.
Dtek60 bought 1 year ago. (Traded for refurbished due to poor battery, but like it). Daily driver.

The future?? Waiting for the Ghost!!

    BB9000>Q10>Z10>Z30>Z30>Classic>Dtek50>Dtek60
