I understand that Blackberry is coming out with a 'new' OS7 device. Im not here to question if their decision is well though out or even there is still a need/market for OS7 devices. There are plenty of threads discussing those points. I'am here to speculate on what exactly could be 'NEW' in this new os7 device.

From the findings by Bla1ze in a recent post the following details were shown

It's listed as the BlackBerry 9720.
    Full QWERTY keyboard.
    Display resolution is 480x360
    Runs BlackBerry OS 7.1
    Supports: 802.11b / 802.11g / 802.11n / 3G

I mean there is literally nothing new here. Not the form factor, not the OS, not the screen res. So what do you guys think is going to make this device something new. Maybe the price point? perhaps a Bold at the price of a Curve? Better processor or ram? Better camera?

Also along with speculating the upcoming OS7 device, if you were to build the 'last OS7 device' with a lot of freedom, how would you go about it? What would you include to leave a long lasting impression?

honestly i dont know if anything is new. Seems like just a refresh to the bold/curve line and I dont know if the OS will even be more current than the OS 7.1 releases we have today

I've been wondering that as well. I'm anxious to see the specs and curious to check it out. From the pic I seen, it definitely has the bold keyboard. Also it looked like it had story maker on it? That was interesting.

I wonder if they're going to spend money on advertising this device. Can you imagine how stupid and confusing it would be to see a BB10 advert on TV then see a 'new' BB7 device advertised after?

It's just a replacement device for those that have older phones and want to keep BIS. Doesn't really have to have a lot of new features. Imo.

I think it's going to be called the "BBCC", for BlackBerry Cash Cow.

I wouldn't expect to see any advertising for these devices, they will see some benefit from bb10 adverts that cover things like bbm, but that will be about it since it will just slot quietly into the bottom of the range where the 9320 currently resides.

My guess is that it will be advertised a little bit in developing countries where there is a high demand for cheaper devices. I know many people have been put off by the extremely high price of Z10 and Q10 (north of $780). These people need to know that there is a new device that will suit their budget and replace their aging BB albeit a much smaller (if any) improvement.

Yep. Fully agree. In the UK you can buy a 9720 on prepay for just 99. The Q5, on the other hand, still costs 279 off contract!

    That's 99GBP for the 9720. And 279GBP for the Q5.
