Ubuntu Edge seems to have run out of cash, so this.
    Ubuntu ran out of cash?

If there no longer support for my Z10 I'll put it down and pick up either my iPhone or my SGIII or the Note 3 I'll be getting this year.

I won't slash my wrists. Life goes on.

I would end up getting an iphone eventually if I had to switch.

No difference for me really, I'm never buying anything that has significant ties with BB.
My next purchase will be an android phone, probably Sony.

They have only 9 days left and still 20 million to go. After the initial record breaking growth, it kinda stopped. Unless they could get 20 million within 9 days, the Edge will never materialise. Pity, I was contemplating of pledging for it.

I don't think any big decision will be happening for months. They just formed that committee.

I'm on a 2 year contract so I'll have the Z10 until then.

Note the phrasing of my words: would you still buy Blackberry products if they went under a different brand name? Or when they become like Motorola, under a parent company but still operating with a large amount of autonomy?

I could see this sort of idea be realized. If (let's say) Facebook were to buy them out, BlackBerry could run tantamount to the Google/Moto deal, with investors most likely profiting.
