What woud be your perfect Blackberry?
- Features, appearance, speed, function, style, whatever you want really.
At what point could you say this is the phone I want for life...
I know it won't be easy but do your best ;-)
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-22-09 06:11 AMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModOne that could:
(A) run applications from the memory card
(B) backup to and restore from the memory card
(C) get serious about internal memory. Really 256mb of user
addressable memory? In 2009?04-22-09 06:25 AMLike 0 - BrantaRetired Network Mod
(B) Nice at first glance, but dangerous. Backups should be OFF DEVICE so they don't get stolen or trashed with the device.
(C) How many users have even installed enough apps to approach 50% usage on existing devices? It all adds to the cost and at least 95% of users will not use the feature.
However it seems more likely the memory partitioning is governed by the chipset's ability to address larger ranges, and corresponding programming issues within the OS. We have seen similar constraints in PCs for many years which have only been resolved with generation changes in the hardware.04-22-09 06:48 AMLike 0 - Picture scrolling is supposed to be coming in 5.0.
Hardware-wise, having something the size of the Niagara, with GPS and WiFi, and maybe 1GB of actual internal memory (not just for storage).
In the operating system, a web browser more on par with desktop browsers, with the capability of using Flash, along with the ability to install and run unsecured applications (like games) from SD card.04-22-09 08:53 AMLike 0 - Picture scrolling is supposed to be coming in 5.0.

EDIT///
When should it be coming out, if you know?04-22-09 09:04 AMLike 0 - Start with a World Edition BB, with support for GSM, CDMA, and Wi-fi.
Allow it to handle more than one line with more than one carrier.
Ports, ports, ports. I want to be able to plug it into an external monitor, and keyboard, a standard POTS line and Ethernet, and of course USB.
It has a terabyte of storage and 12 Gigabytes of RAM.
Virtual Machine options to run Linux.
Models would come in Jet Black, Blue Black, Ferrari Red, and Hot Pink (for the ladies).
It would be able to start my car in the morning, double as a remote control for my TV, and make me coffee.
And it would weigh less than 5 ounces.
So when I can pick up my phone? :-)04-22-09 11:20 AMLike 0 -
- 1. Wi-Fi
2. As mentioned more memory
3. Multiple screens like the iphone
4. Threaded SMS
5. MORE MEMORY04-22-09 11:33 AMLike 0 - A perfect BB would have an external port so I could plug in my Mr. Fusion, gun it to 88mph and go back to Ford's Theatre and prevent the assassination of Lincoln. Because after further review of the Emancipation Proclamation, it appears that Lincoln forgot to sign it...04-22-09 11:43 AMLike 0

- 1. Get rid of the OS sharing it's memory with the application storage. Make OS on it's own, non-accessible ROM, and give the device at least 128mb ram and 1 gig of storage or more. Memory cards are for media only.
2. Fix memory leaks.
3. instead of a trackball that gets dirty, why not use a small half inch/half inch square that you touch like a trackpad?
4. Make the OS stable 100%.. quit leaking small little builds every other day and just release the OS in 6m-1y intervals.
5. Browser.. Make the browser not suck, kthx.
6. Fix HTML email. How is a device that is specifically designed for email, also the worst device that handles HTML email? Here's pointing to YOU Blackberry.. ALL of you!
7. 3D chip like the PowerVR chip in the iPhone.
8. Bring more eyecandy to the OS as a whole.. the OS feel's like I walked into a post office.. it's cold, chilli and feels unwanting.
9. 3G/LTE hybrid, WIFI, aGPS and Bluetooth 3.0 profile including A2DP support. Accelerometer for the gimmick feeling.. but not the Storm's accelerometer.. make it so that you can either turn it off, or the app has to be specifically designed for it.
10. Make it so that when data goes through the cell radio, the device doesn't freeze.Last edited by sniffs; 04-22-09 at 04:45 PM.
04-22-09 04:39 PMLike 0 - I'd have a big sexy touchscreen like the iphone, with a slide out keyboard, cause typing on the iphone sucks. Paired with the blackberry enterprise server, that would be the best phone around.
It would also need to have a slot to upgrade your memory... heck, maybe even 2 slots for lots of music / video storage! Add 802.11 wireless, built in gps, maybe even am/fm radio and a 3mp video camera.
I really liked my i-phone, but it was more of a cool toy than a phone and it could never receive email like the blackberry. I do miss it for the apps and the giant touch screen!
Combine a blackberry and an I phone, and now you have yourself an awesome phone!
Call it the I-berry! If blackberry made one of those, they'd steal the spotlight from the i-phone.
Oh yeah, and it absolutely must have a depleted uranium battery so you would never have to charge it. Ever! Just don't drop the phone, or the city you live in would suddenly be vaporized.Last edited by wetjet550; 04-22-09 at 04:55 PM.
04-22-09 04:47 PMLike 0 - amazinglygracelessRetired ModI'm not concerned with the speed. I'd just like the ability

have access to a PC, be that lack of ownership, on the road, vacation etc...
(C) How many users have even installed enough apps to approach 50% usage on existing devices? It all adds to the cost and at least 95% of users will not use the feature.
your perfect BlackBerry" not "What is the perfect BlackBerry.
What I posted is what I would want.04-22-09 05:30 PMLike 0 - Much More Internal Memory-So I can have TONS of applications, especially ones needed for school.
One that no matter what, won't get scratched without protection.
Other than that, it's pretty much perfect as it is. Couldn't ask for a better phone.Last edited by AshlynLovesHerBB; 04-22-09 at 09:01 PM.
04-22-09 08:59 PMLike 0 - I would like the ability to store apps on my memory card like my treo did
The troe also had a memory card backup program which was also nice
Threaded sms messaging
More memory for all my apps.
I don't need wifi. I rarely come out of 1XEV anyways
FLASH SUPPORT FOR THE BROWSER
an above user stated something about a square that you touch instead of a tracball that gets dirrty. I was thinking about a virtual trackbal or a small touch center where you just scroll your finger on the pad.
A bold like keyboard with a HIGH resolution screen
All BB's should come stok with the BSE already installed because my res curve is sooooooo scratched and dinged up from a lot of abuse
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-23-09 12:32 AMLike 0 - 1) Threaded SMS
2) Built in app that supports full create, edit and viewing of Word.
3)Better HTML email viewing.
4) Video streaming that's not tied to the blackberry's internal media viewer
5) Better camera and video.
6) Able to switch from CDMA to GSM.(Visa versa) for multible carriers.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-23-09 01:24 AMLike 0 - Mine would be a 3.4" landscape oriented touchscreen with a slide down qwerty, 3.2mp autofocus camera with LED flash, front facing webcam for video calls, 3G bands for ATT AND Tmobile, wifi, gps, exterior microsd slot, fast processor and 1gb system memory. THAT would be a nice berry!
