It is your decision to make, not the responsibility of random posters on an Internet forum. Do your research and pick the device that best suits YOUR needs. It is your own money you will be spending, not mine nor anyone else's here. You need to do what is best for you.
Don't base your decision on the news, check out the specs and reviews of both devices and decide for yourself.
That being said, if you're planning to stick with your next phone for a significant amount of time, know that any BB7 device is unlikely to see significant upgrades in the future - just minor support upgrades. The S3, being all brand spanking new will almost certainly get the next big Android upgrade.
I have a Bold 9930 and I can tell you that with my experience, it's right about a damn near perfect phone...
Everything I do is quick and efficient... However, it's efficiency has created the problem of me spending a significantly larger amount of time on my phone because I can do so much more...
It is up to you though...
I will be buying a BB10 phone also...
As in upgrade to a OS7 device? No.
Buy one OFF contract? Yes. Amazon & Ebay has some for under $350 if you really search.
I think it's worth it. & then use your upgrade for BB10.
If I were you, I would buy the Bold 9900 now. No question about it. Yes, the S3 is brand spanking new, 4 processors, super large screen... But I don't need all that. I need a BB.
(My view - in your situation) Use upgrade to get a cheaper 9900. If you have extra pennies, then buy a Playbook ... starting @ $199 ... while there are still some 16GB available.
You'll get (probably) the best of BB10 on PB while handling a serious mobile smartphone.
I think you should wait for BB10 if you still want to stick to RIM. If you want to go to Samsung go ahead. BB7 isn't worth buying IMHO. I'd rather buy a BB10 device when it is released. I'm eager to find out what BB10 has in store for us.
Buying technology is alwyas a stake in the ground. You pay your money and you own a piece of tech. After a while this tech is out of date.
If you buy a product that has been out for a while, it is already out of date. However if you need a phone now, then the 9900 is a good phone. I would not like a 9900 on a 2 year contract today. It will seem very old i a years time.
BB10 will be all new, shiny and probably buggy in its fiorst couple of iterations. We know the core QNX product is solid but moving from a OS to a working phone is a long jump.
I cannot comment on Android as the only thing I know about it that it is made by Google who recently
a). reached out a deleted infected apps from every Android phone that had it installed. Google deletes 21 infected apps - ZDNet
b). changed their privacy rules so as to send you more advertising by gathering this data across all their platforms.
If you want to be associated the an OS that supports that, please go ahead.
I could get an upgrade now for my 9800, but I've decided to pass on OS7 and wait to see what BB10 has to offer. I don't want to get stuck with OS7 for 2 years at this point. I don't see much value in upgrading from OS6 to OS7, but that's just me. BB10 is where it's at.
