I am wondering why the Blackberry devices have a Network, Blackberry, and Off setting for the time setting option? What is the difference and what function would each serve? What is the one that is set for actual GMT?

I believe the network uses internet time setting, blackberry uses either your BIS or BES server time and off uses what time you set manually.

Here is the BlackBerry FAQ definition of the time source settings:|
Time Settings Options on your BlackBerry
BlackBerry - Synchronizes the time (minutes) with the Research In Motion BlackBerry Infrastructure and not the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Network - Synchronizes the time (minutes) with your service provider's local network time.
Off - Does not synchronize the date or time.

You can read all about BlackBerry time settings in the Time Zone Issues thread that's linked in my sig.
