Lately my bb saves every file I download onto it as a .rem, what is causing this and how do I stop it. If I download a song in mp3 format, it saves the file as .mp3.rem and then I fail to open the file on my computer, please help urgently.

It is encrypting your files. Without knowing what phone and OS you have it is
kind of tough to tell you how to fix it.

Thanks for your reply, I'm using a bb bold 9700. Let me see how I could possible deactivate the encryption but if you can tell me how to do it that will be great. Thanks

Try options/security/encryption/disable

You can also try options/security options/encryption/ under media card make sure Include Media Files is et to No.
