    literally, it refers to removing and replacing the battery.

    A battery pull is the simple way to force the BlackBerry to do a power on startup. That purges all of the temporary files and releases the memory.

    In normal use, BlackBerry will use and recover memory as needed. The memory management is completely automatic and will operate freely in the background unless the available memory drops too low.

    In that case, extreme memory recover techniques are implemented, SMS text and phone logs are deleted.

    The key setting is Media / Options / Device Memory Limit. In the later generation BlackBerry, this can be set to 5 Mb, the lower threshold for automatic memory management.

    Great, Reed...thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Much of what you said was Greek to me... but that's because of the RECEIVER (me). LOL!

    I do understand the part about purging the temp files, however... and I can see how that's important.
