My kid is travelling in the U.S for three days and she will need a U.S sim card. Her current phone is unlocked and we need to find her something that is reasonable. Our Canadian provider wants $7 a day for minimal usage.

    thanks in advance

Exactly what I was going to recommend once I figured out the OP was Canadian.

@rebroker: Roam uses the TMO network, which means decent coverage in larger cities, so-so on freeways, and poorer in remote areas. If your kid has a recent BB10 phone (other than the Q10 SQN100-1,) no problem. I don't think Roam offers BIS.

The other network option is AT&T. But their plans wouldn't be as cheap.

I used Roam Mobility for the first time in July. It was fine for the 5 days I had it. Coverage was good

I use Roam every time I travel down south on business a great deal when I compare it to what TELUS wants.

Just get her a soft phone line. It's free and she can get a local (US) number. For example ephone app. She can use WiFi calling or data from her device

Also roam has an option to pay a little more and it will piggyback off or more than just Tmobile.

I've used Roam Mobility multiple times and it works really well. I'm on Koodo now and they comparable phone and text rates and you don't lose your normal number. On Roam, you assigned a different number for your phone.

I signed up to Fongo and forward my number to that. I then forward Fongo to my Roam mobility number. That way people can still call my Canadian number and it'll ring on my phone. True, I can't get text messages but that's fine.

Spent 10 days in the states last month. Rogers only charged me 5$ a day, with a share everything plan. Just using as data as m that m y current plan has. (20gigs a month). Found it reasonable.

Thanks everyone. She is back now. Chose roam mobility. Unfortunately, once the sim card is installed, RM has an automated text message sent to the phone saying thanks for hooking up to RM and enjoy your 3Mbs of data per day. She paid for unlimited text and data. She didnt use the phone for the entire first day, worried that she would go over the 3 mbs. After several calls by me to RM, it was determined that their auto text message was an old automated text message and was to be ignored. They are trying to determine how to remove this automated message on their system. The real dumb part of this was that RM support knew nothing about this message. I finally demanded to speak to a supervisor and only the supervisor seemed to be aware of what I was talking about. Even though its an upfront payment system, how is a kid supposed to know.
