What Blackberry should I buy?
- Hey guys, Im new to the Blackberrys world, and I dont know what to buy, right now Im a student, and I dont have too much money to spend on a phone...
What really atracts me to the BlackBerry is the BBM function, all my friends are BB users, and I feel weird with a Xperia X10 Mini Pro in the hand...
So what I really need is a Blackberry with BB OS 6, with 3G capabilities and BBM function... AND NOT SO EXPENSIVE...
What should I buy?05-21-12 08:17 PMLike 0 - Curve line up is intended for the low cost market. 9360/9350 with OS7. depending on your carrier, most OS6 devices are already discontinued. hope this helps!SugarMouth and BlackBerry_Maniac like this.05-21-12 08:33 PMLike 2
- If you can afford the Bold 9900/9930, go for that. Best keyboard experience. Period. Check AmazonWireless for deals. Prices on there are usually cheaper than direct pricing from Verizon/ATT/Sprint stores.BlackBerry_Maniac likes this.05-21-12 08:47 PMLike 1

- If BBM and texting, e-mail is the focus you would probably love the Curver 9360.
I got the Bold 9930 and did not even look at the Curve 9360. But then a friend of mine wanted a BB and she wanted something inexpensive so we got her a Curve 9360 and she loved it. But what surprised me was that I loved it too.
The Browser was fast, the apps launched just fine. Everything worked well. I was expecting less but frankly I was very impressed by this little guy. Also, it is a small device so it fits in your pocked and it can play FM radio without data charges.
There is no touch screen but frankly, although I use mine from time to time I could easily live without it. It is currently selling for 29.99 with a two year contract.
This device is an OS7 device and it is miles appart from OS6. Don't go OS6 at this point. In addition to being a much better OS you will get $77.00 in free apps to the end of this month.
Good luck!05-21-12 10:07 PMLike 0 - I suggest you to read some reviews about those Blackberry phones:
Blackberry Bold 9780 / 9700
Blackberry Curve 8520
Blackberry Curve 9360 (OS7)05-22-12 10:15 AMLike 0 - I suggest you to read some reviews about those Blackberry phones:
Blackberry Bold 9780 / 9700
Blackberry Curve 8520
Blackberry Curve 9360 (OS7)05-22-12 10:16 AMLike 0 - I don't know your budget.
But I'd go either with:
Blackberry Curve 9360
Pros:
+ very affordable
+ OS7 (with the ultra fast HTML5 Browser
+ full blackberry advantages
+ 3G
+ batterylife
Cons:
- low resolution screen
- no autofocus camera
- "slower" (800MHz processor)
Or the 9790:
Pros:
+ high resolution TOUCHscreen + phy. Keyboard
+ really fast (1GHz processor)
+ NFC
+ great autofocus camera
+ OS7 (with the fast(er because 1GHz) HTML5-browser
+ great loudspeaker
+ almost same specs. As the highclass Bold
+ 3G
Cons:
- more expensive than the curve above
- not that good batterylife (but still very good)
All in all, I'd go only with the OS7 devices - they are a bit more expensive than the OS5/OS6 ones, but give you full features of HTML5. The others (9700, 9780, 8520 etc. Are a bit outdated)Last edited by Slash82; 05-22-12 at 11:46 AM.
05-22-12 11:42 AMLike 0 - I'm a student and a Curve 9360 sounds good to me too. the Bold 9790 is also an option if you're willing to shell out the extra cash for a touch screen and +200 mhz of processing power and an autofocus camera. If you're looking for the cheapest BlackBerry available, then maybe a 9320 is okay enough (that is if you're not bothered by the pathetic screen and mediocre camera).
Well those are the three choices of the current line up of BB7 Phones. I don't suggest going to the BB6 line because there are some problems that I've encountered when I used my 9300 Curve 3G. So best of luck to ya! Cheers.05-22-12 11:49 AMLike 0 - Thaks guys, im gonna buy the curve 9360, i would buy the bold 9900 but i dont live in the us, so the bold costs 600$ where i live and i can get the curve at 140$ and the plan at 20$ a month, anyway, thanks guys05-22-12 01:43 PMLike 0

Pros:
-very fast 1.2ghz processor
-touchscreen
-os 7.1
-blackberry functionality
-best keyboard ever!
Cons:
-bad battery life (but you could always get an extended/spare battery)

I would never hesitate to recommend the Blackberry Bold 9650
Pros-
- Faster than 9700
- Nice ergonomic keyboard
- Overall attractive design
Cons-
- A bit weighty
- Sustains easy damage to the bezel on the housing
Just my personal opinion
