So here's the deal. I have a Tour that I bought the week after it was released for Verizon. Since then, I have loaded a few apps and removed a few here and there, but now I realize that I really need to get a few good staples.
So, I turn it to you, loyal crackberry community. What apps could you not live without? This includes:
I personally have been using opera 5 beta 2 for quite some time now and it has served me well, and for RSS I have been using Viigo, but quite frankly I feel like it's bloated, offers too many extra "features" that just bog it down, and it sucks up memory. I have been unable to find a weather app that I like, and of course, there is the obligatory facebook app that every college student like myself has despite the fact that it's slow, clunky, and often annoying to use.
1. QuickLaunch
2. BeWeather
3. Slacker Radio
4. Telenav
those are really the only 4 i couldn't live without. poynt and scoremobile are really nice too, but you could always just look that info up with your browser.
BerryWeather
Opera Mini (for downloading video podcasts e.g. .mp4's)
Sprint Navigation (I travel quite a bit for work, to/from customers)
PdaNet for tethering to my laptop
JIMM (Java Instant Mobile Messenger for ICQ connectivity since Sprint does not support ICQ even though the app is there)
Google Maps (yes, it can be a resource hog)
Flickr app
-Quicklaunch
-AddonIs
-BerryBuzz
-Pandora
-Google Maps
-GoogleSync (if you use the calendar)
-ForceRadioOn (for the times when you just need a little extra push if your battery is about to die and you need to make a call)
-SMRTguard! - Since they just released the free version
"Need" is a tough concept to nail down, b/c nobody here "needs" a smartphone to begin with (they didn't exist like they do now even 5 years ago).
But if we're talking about apps that become integral to your daily life and usage of your phone, here are mine:
(1) QuickLaunch (if you're going buy just one, might as well get the app that makes practically every other app easier to access!)
(2) BeWeather Free (first thing I look at everytime I grab my phone)
(3) PodTrapper ($9.99 after the trial is up, but this has replaced my iPod for podcasts, and it's probably 5x more convenient)
(4) ScoreMobile (BB doesn't have ESPN or a lot of the other "fun" apps, but this one gives you every score for every major sport, it's great)
(5) GoogleMaps (much better than BB Maps, can be used as a map, to check traffic, or even as a GPS if you don't have a regular GPS with you).
(6) iTookThisOnMyPhone (other apps do the same thing, but this app allows me to benefit from the 9700's great camera and share my pictures with faraway friends/relatives)
