I had sent my 8830 in for a trackball issue. Alltel returned it saying there was liquid damage so no warranty. When I tried to swap info back to this phone, I find no operating system, only "--no application linked---" on a white screen. How do I connect to my computer to load the o.s. back on? When I plug in to USB cable it doesn't recognize anything connected.

Try pulling the battery while its pluged in and try to get DM to see your PIN before the hour glass stops. If it can't find it before the hour glass stops your SOL and I would call your provider and throw a fit.
