Are there viruses for Blackberry OS? I keep getting emails stating "Don't open on your BB! Viruses contained." Maybe I'm late but do I even need to worry about this?

Anything is possible but it is very unlikely. BB security is pretty tight. The benefits of such a virus would be hard pressed to outweigh the effort required to engineer it. Especially when it would be patched soon after it was discovered.

don't need to worry about blackberries getting viruses. top notch security says it all. if they did, the entire united states would come crumbling down. this is the likely scenario if the president and government officials berries had viruses.

Well I can see that as a good way to persuade you to open something on your PC - which is many times more vulnerable. Your BB is pretty solid and resistant to malware, unless you explicitly allow it to install something.

You should ask yourself who is sending these emails, and why they would send something which contained a virus. In most jurisdictions it can be a crime to deliberately send a virus to someone else.
