so i have an 8830 here with a broken charger port. i dont wanna send it in to somebody that will fix it for 80 bucks. but wanted to know has anybody actually successfully swapped out the usb port for a new one and had it working?

I don't advise trying it yourself, it is a surface mount component and the risk of U killing the motherboard is VERY high
Cipher is right. Its the easiest thing to do. One mess up and your buying a new phone. Search google...I found another company that will do it for 50 bucks, just cant remember who.
