US Cellular Phone Switching Plan Question

Hi, right now I have a basic US Cellular phone and I want to upgrade to a smartphone (Samsung Acclaim), right now I am not eligible for an upgrade, so can I just buy the smartphone off of eBay and switch phones with the one I have now or will I have to wait until I am eligible for an upgrade? Thanks. And will adding the Android plan be painless or will I have to wait for my 2yr contract to end? Sorry if this is in the wrong thread area, as I just joined not too long ago.

You might want to check with USCC. There have been times when they have upgraded people from a basic phone to a smart phone without needing to be upgrade-eligible. I know that last year, Black Friday weekend was one time when anyone on a basic plan could upgrade to a smart phone without waiting for their upgrade date.
