currently i have an 8310 but have been unimpressed with its occasional slowness (especially after a recent 4.5 update) and its lack of memory (i did however inset a new media card today)

i was thinking of upgrading to maybe a bold...

any recommendations? should i go with a 8900, 9700, wait until later this year??

Go with the 9700. Fast, a ton of app memory, great camera, great screen and much more.

i kind of liked the 9000 bold keyboard a little better and the design- it is just different from the 9700 or an obviously older version of the 9700? if that makes sense...

I have the 9000 and it is bigger but the 9700 has a similar keypad (just a little smaller). I love my 9000 but would trade it for a 9700 any day. The trackpad is a huge step up over the trackball. No worrying about it getting dirty, sticking, etc.

is it worth waiting to see if anything comes out later in the year (i may want to upgrade for college in the summer) or is the bold a good move now?

I say go for it. Either Bold is a huge step up from the 8310. There are always new devices coming out and there always will be.

You would be better off with the 9700. Its a great upgrade from the orginal bold.

Check the prices at Wal*Mart, you'd be surprised at how low you could get them. I saw $78.88 at one store just recently. That one had the Bold 9k for $48.88.
