you should also be able to block all premium texts via the carrier website. They are costly as **** so i would do it ASAP if you can

I sent a text back saying "STOP" and I received a message saying that I will no longer receive messages from this service. How on earth would I have intially been the receiver of these texts and exactly how costly could they be?

    Wowzers!

Do you know how I could possibly be the receiver of these? Also, you mentioned being able to block premium texts via the carrier website, how do I do this exactly?

I would contact your provider. They may be able to remove the charge as well, just be sure to be super nice about it.

Or you voted for something via text, text to get a ringtone, sent a text to get your jersey shore name, etc

Probably an ad or contest or voting you saw on TV.

Most carriers will reverse the charges. As HF said be nice to the CS rep. Also be careful of what you sign up for. They may do reverse the charges once or twice, but not if you continue to have this problem.

Only ways would be to send in a vote via text or subscribe to certain contests that require you to enter your number for a chance to win something on a website and you need to eneter a pin from a text sent to you

you can also have your carrier block "short codes" (e.g text 34561 to get your daily numbers, etc) so you don't run the risk of it happening again.
