Does it matter when unplugging the USB cable from the Blackberry to the computer if you just pull it out or if you click on the eject hardware icon?

I'm sure there is a "correct" way, and I'm sure I'm
probably not doing it, but I just unplug it.

One can't be too careful when removing USB cable, I know when I'm accessing any type of storage device via USB I always eject as I have seen memory cards which go faulty when unplugging without ejecting.

I agree, as long as you're done and everything's closed, pull it out.

yeah you are supposed to use the 'eject' function, but that has been so unreliable for me in windows that i just wait a few seconds after transferring something and then just yank the cable.

there's an eject icon? I've just always yanked the sucker out; it's never hurt my BB (or my camera, when I upload photos to my PC).

I'm glad you said this. I was starting to think I was the only one who didn't know about this.

I'm usually to lazy to eject properly. I know I should, but have never had a problem yet. Of course, I will in a few just for saying that.

I lost a movie by just pulling it
So just to be safe I use "safely remove hardware ". Its probably overley cautious but I don't want tho wreck my bb

I looked this up when I got my first BB. As I remember it there is no need to use the safely remove hardware icon with a BB

I agree - use the "safely remove hardware" which is in the Task Tray (where you find the clock icon) and pick the drive which represents the BB.

For my camera card which is in a multicard reader, I use EJECT from Windows Explorer as I am NOT removing hardware (the card reader).

Both procedures are intended to make sure nothing is still being written to the card or otherwise being accessed.
