Setting up Twitter account. But first, is using 'Twitter for Blackberry' considered texting or is it charged to data plan? I have unlimited texting plan with AT&T. Sorry for the dumb question. Thanks.

Hmm, I'm not sure what Twitter is considered. Maybe under your data/browsing plan? I don't think it's considered texting, but I could be wrong. You can call or go into your AT&T/Cingular store and ask them what it is. Good luck!

Twitter uses data. A BlackBerry Data Plan is required to use the application.

Currently my BB (9700) is not set up to receive email. I assume I need to do that first. Why notifications through email rather than text? Just asking for my info as this is very new for me. Thanks. BTW, I have unlimited texting and '2G data pro plan for Blackberry'.

No texting used at all. Uses a blackberry data plan and if you have it enabled, your wifi network.

If you use the Twitter app, I'm pretty sure it uses data. But there is a way to use Twitter using sms. There's a section on the website:

    https://support.twitter.com/groups/3...bile#topic_153

    Look under "Twitter via SMS"

I've never used it before, so I can't vouch for anything. But worth a look, I'd say.

Thanks for all the info. I bought this phone a while back from a friend. Shortly after AT&T automatically activated a 2G Blackberry data plan. I did not know if a 2G monthly plan was sufficient for Twitter so I was trying to see if Twitter used sms or data. I thought I had read where some use sms. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks again.
