    Hi all,

I'm planning a trip overseas and plan on purchasing international roaming for data, but will not be purchasing international texting. Is there a way for me to use data, but avoid international texting charges by turning off receiving text messages on my phone?

I can avoid sending out texts, but can't control others sendings text messages to me.

    Thanks for any insights.

Can't tell you with regards to us rules but uk wise you don't pay for incoing sms or mms messages whilst your roaming.

Set up SMS blocking in your Firewall.

Options > Security Options > Firewall > Enabled > check the boxes you want

Would this really prevent OP from receiving and being charged for text messages? I think the blackberry would still receive texts, but the firewall will just prevent the texts from being displayed.

I think the safest thing to do would be to contact the carrier and have them disable texts for a specified period of time.
