    This has to do with the Google Maps app on iOS. Some Google Apps are watered down to their Android counterparts. This article is just saying that Google is throwing iOS users a bone and adding this feature (which the Android version has had for quite awhile) to the iOS version. Nothing to do with BlackBerry at all.

    I don't think the article went in depth enough to explain much. The Google Maps app has always had spoken traffic alerts. What's changed is that the alerts/warnings have become a bit more informative using crowd-sourced information. Instead of just being notified that you're being re-routed due to congestion/slowed-traffic, you'll be notified that you're being re-routed due to construction/malfunctioning streetlight/accident in the left westbound lane/stalled vehicle/police checkpoint/etc..
