This might be a really dumb question, but I've been using a Trackwheel on my 8700R for a while and have next to no experience with the trackball....but can you still play brickbreaker? Is it more difficult?
My current BlackBerry is the 7130e which has the trackwheel so I can't give an opinion. BUT when the Curve/BB 8300 is launched, at this point anyway, I plan to get it.
Since this model has so many great features, I can hardly wait.
OK - so logically I know the trackball should be better. However, I'm so used to my 8700 trackwheel and love it. Looks like I won't have a choice but to adapt if I want to upgrade devices. I did try the 8800 for awhile but I was having a few issues that weren't easily solved, so I decided to go back to my beloved 8700. Usually I embrace new technology with major excitement - we'll see how it goes with the Curve and/or 9xxx series
Tried a trackball device at a store, HATED it. I'll be on the the last people to ever goto a device with a trackball. It looks like my next BB will be my last one and then I'll need to start stockpiling spares in case I need to change to another one. I don't want to goto the trackball at all.
It's only been a couple of weeks since I got my 8830, but I love the trackball because it allows me to use only one hand. Everything is close to your thumb so you can navigate quickly through menus, etc.
I love the trackwheel on my 8700g, it just seems alot more natural then the trackball of my old Pearl. I haven't really had a problem with using one hand and the trackwheel.
I know they had to give in and have a BlackBerry with a trackball to give the left hand people a break. Apparently lefties supposedly found it ackward to use the trackwheel. Well that's what a RIM rep told me. I use to talk to them a lot before joining this forum. Being right handed I never thought much about it but I could see the trackball being easier for either right or left handed people.
You are so cute SammyB...........yes you're right. If someone said here try this BB out for the day, no matter what it had, I'd adapt and I would be addicted to that model too.
I'm guess I'm one of the few who miss the trackwheel. I had a 8700 before going back to plain vanilla phone. Saw the Curve and had to get one. Love it and have gotten used to the trackball but miss the trackwheel.
Just seems that I don't have the same control with the trackball as with the trackwheel. Possibly could be that the fingernails get in the way of true trackball control. Who knows?
It finally allows us to unite as one, no more righties laughing at us lefties because we have to use a finger to scroll!! We can all live in peace now. Thank you RIM!!
