I have owned my BB curve 8330 for over 2 years now and I never once have had to clean underneath the trackball. I absolutely detest the trackpad, I like the feeling of something physical and moving underneath my finger as I navigate, but unfortunately it seems all the new BBs I'm looking at are all moving in the direction of the trackpad. It disappoints me

Trackpad is definitely the way to go imo.

my trackpad for 9700 gets on my nervs. it squeeqs, it giggles, and all after 1 month.

Have had several BB's and have never had any permanent issues with the trackball. Of course RIM is going to switch to the trackpad so we will all have to get used to it.

Although I have a storm, I have played with a 8530 and the trackpad is much better. My friend is always changing the trackball on his 8330.

Went from a Bold 9000 to Bold 9700 and now I am on a Tour. Trackpad is far superior and more comfortable than the Trackball. When I first got the Tour and had to go back to the Trackball I thought wow this doesn't feel good. Now that I have used it for a bit I don't feel it but seriously the Trackball was very uncomfortable (it almost kinda hurt, strange to say but its true).

I cannot wait for the Tour2/Bold for Sprint so I can ditch the Trackball...
