I've learned the hard way that oily food and Blackberry trackball usage don't exactly go hand in hand.
Luckily, after a few dozen spins, alternately horizontal and vertical, the ball seems to behave well enough again.

But it got me thinking - if some sort of contaminent that gets into the wheel doesn't self-clear so readily next time, what are my options?

Is there a mini-usb external trackwheel that I can plug in until a replacement unit arrives?
An app that does trackwheel emulation?

I don't think there is any sort of usb external trackwheel, but you could just search for a how to on how to remove the trackball, and then you could clean it.

I also think that you could wait until you have clean hands before using your berry, which would make the whole process a lot easier
