. Just review the recent increase in the worth of BB since he took charge. To think BB is done is magical thinking on the part of iOS acolytes.
It's down 45 percent since he took charge.

For those of too young to know this stuff, in the pre-Jobs era, Apple was in much worse shape then BB is now, and it took a major intervention by MS to keep Apple in business. In fact, at one point there were more MS engineers working on the Mac than Apple engineers. It appears that Thorsten is playing the same part in the BB turn around that Jobs played at Apple. I think for the most part the post you offered makes a ton of sense. IMHO, The route for BBRY has to be tied/linked to some sort of strategy that takes them temporarily out of direct competition with the cash heavy market leaders. It really is TOO LATE to play tit for tat with a Samsung/Google or Apple over smartphone devices alone. But Like Apple did when they needed to move the company out of the bottom rung, they developed a strategy that changed the game in a market they were not even a player in. MP3's!!! Music. The Ipod and Itunes strategy changed the companies fortunes, then they went into retail right after the Ipod took off and never looked back. Once they struck a deal with INTEL, the brand was already back in fashion and the rest of the story is still being written. It's too late to guess now, but if they tried to win at selling desktop computers......well, who knows that answer , right?

I assert that BBRY is playing in a game of smartphones, and only recently apps ,when the leaders are offering devices and ecosystems ( apps, cloud, AI, etc). To use a sports analogy loosely, BBRY invented basketball, but never really dunked to score, 2 points shots were good enough. When they saw how effective the dunk was, they learned to dunk, By that time they saw that the championship teams were past dunking, they were shooting 3's. Can BBRY learn to shoot 3's ( offer other services cloud, AI, and what ever else)? Maybe. But the question is, can they learn fast enough to catch up and win?

Announced today, Google will spend USD$500M to launch the MOTOX. It's just another device but it will be backed by the ecosystem + branding + heavy advertising. It's raining 3's.

It's never too late for what you could become. But pay the bills, feed your employers, keep your fans happy, keep your investors calm and don't die..
