My girlfriend is going on a vacaction to the bahamas today she is already at the ship. She can't text me normally while she is there because of cost. Her father has the 8830 World by verizon. We don't know if he has bbm or not but if so I need a fast way for her to download it and also is it free from Pennsylvania to the Bahamas? HELP FAST ! I HAVE ALMOST NO TIME LEFT TO TELL HER

BlackBerry Messenger is part of the default build. It should be there now.

Options / Advanced Options / Applications to verify it is installed.

    If not:

BlackBerry Messenger €“ BBM an Instant Messaging App

There is an alternate choice, you can also install the upgraded BlackBerry Messenger v5 from BlackBerry App World. It provides many new features, but it is huge and may not fit in the 8830 available memory space.

is it free from Pennsylvania to the Bahamas? ...
She will be charged for data while roaming, but the individual messages are quite small. It is free for you, but it will cost her to reply.

I can tell you what the charges would be from my carrier when I am roaming in the USA, but that may not accurately reflect the cost aboard a cruise ship or while in The Bahamas.

Data transmission charges of $0.006/kB apply when roaming in the U.S. ...
The charge for message up to 1 Kb is just over 1/2 cent. 1 Kb is the minimum granularity, sending a LOL will cost the same as half page message.

    Calling From Bahamas

The only international data rate I have found is:

    Pay Per Use Rate:
    $0.02/KB ($20.48/MB)
