Bold 9700. It's RIM's current 'flagship' model, with the fastest cpu, most memory, and best battery life. Know very few people who dislike it. I love mine!

Another vote for the 9700 (if your carrier offers it).

I've gotta say the 9700 is the best phone I ever laid my hands on. (I haven't touched a Nexus One or Evo though.)

You're not going to get a 9700 to work on Verizon, so start with that... what carrier do you want to use and see what they have in terms of a "simpler" smartphone that fits your needs better.

There are rumors that the Tour2 (i.e. 9650) will become available to Verizon shortly... that may work better then the current 9630 they have.

I would say you have a great phone already but yea the Blackberry Tour would be a simpler choice for you if you really want a Blackberry that bad. I wouldn't recomment the Storm though.

The 9700 is sounding good so far....is it easy to use? What is the keyboard like?

She says she is using AT&T? What does that have to do with Big Red?

9700 is for sure a nice phone, love mine and I did a lot of research before I purchased it as it was that or the mytouch3g, cliq, Samsung Behold2 and ended up with the Bold as I just couldn't get into the touchscreens.

I even used a Driod from time to time as my SIL has one and she loves it, however it lagged really bad and her internet was slow as well, with full bars. Even my wifes Internet on her mytouch3g isn't all that fast. I am browsing just as fast with Opera5 installed....

They really are nice phones for sure, the 9700. Can't go wrong.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

As far as the keyboard goes, it is a little small compared to other BB's, minus the Pearl, however compared to touchscreens even in landscape mode, it is easier to type on a 9700 compared to any other touchscreen I have used. I don't even look half the time and I have big hands...

First off, what is your budget? If you are looking for a cheaper Blackberry, look at either an 85xx series or if you can still get one, the 81xx series. If you have the money, either an 95xx series or 9700 would be great to go with.

If you are eligible for an upgrade or new contract, you can get the 9700 at Best Buy for $99. That's cheaper than what you get them in the store. AT&T wants $299 with a $100 mail in rebate, making the final price $199. You save a hundred bucks bottom line and dfon't have to worry about the rebate. Just a thought.

    Best of luck.

If you don't want to switch from Verizon and still want to have a screen as big as the Droid, check out the Storm2 9550. SurePress makes it very easy to type on.

The 9700 is a good choice. But you should definitely play around with the keyboard in a store for a while. Some people prefer the keys spaced out more like on the Curve series. I think the 9700 has bigger keys which make them easier to hit, and the little ridges let you know which key you're on.

My typing speed and accuracy went up within a week or two of switching from a Curve to a 9700.
